Dear Senator (NAME)

I am writing in support of HB 201, which establishes the Louisiana Seal of Fine Arts.

This legislation represents a meaningful step toward recognizing student achievement in disciplines that are already central to Louisiana’s identity, economy, and workforce. Our state proudly markets its culture of music, visual arts, performance as a defining strength. HB 201 ensures our education system reflects that same value.

The Seal of Fine Arts does three important things:

  • Recognizes student achievement in rigorous artistic disciplines

  • Aligns K–12 education with workforce development, particularly in Louisiana’s growing creative economy

  • Elevates the arts within existing accountability systems, without creating new mandates or burdens on schools

At a time when schools face increasing pressure on instructional time, it is critical that we not only protect access to the arts, but actively signal that these programs matter. Recognition drives priority. Priority drives access.

HB 201 is a strong, practical step in that direction.

Thank you for your consideration and your support of a well-rounded education for all Louisiana students.
